The Sochi circuit, located in the Black Sea resort of the same name, is the first purpose-built Formula One™ facility in Russia. Sochi hosted the country's inaugural Grand Prix in October 2014, the same year that the city also staged the Winter Olympics.

The exciting track is integrated into the Olympic Park infrastructure, with facilities located in close vicinity to the railway station, and to the roads which connect to Sochi International Airport.

In 2017 Valtterri Bottas won the Russian Grand Prix by only 0.617 over Sebastian Vettel, the smallest winning margin since the 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The overall result didn't change the standings in the Driver's Championship, with Vettel remaining in front, followed by Lewis Hamilton. In the Constructor's however Mercedes were able to overtake Ferrari, with Red Bull Racing remaining in third place.
